Tribulus terrestris is a testosterone enhancer. Studies show that it increases sex drives in both men and women. It increases testosterone levels differently, instead of being a testosterone precursor; it leads to the production of the luteinizing hormone (LH).

When LH levels are increased, the natural production of testosterone also increases. Anyone who wants to increase muscle growth would be wise to try supplementing with Tribulus terrestris.

Studies show that by using 750mg a day of this supplement an increase in free testosterone of 40% can be expected. Highly recommended for libido and muscle enhancing.

Since Chitosan can't be digested, the fat absorbed is passed out of the body. Together with a low fat eating plan and regular exercise, Chitosan is a great choice for keeping off those unwanted pounds. Try taking 15 minutes before a meal to inhibit fat absorption.

Ma Huang

A popular Asian herb that has been used for over 5,000 years is Ma Huang; it was first used by the ancient Chinese people as a decongestant.

The active ingredient is ephedrine, which has been shown to contain powerful fat burning characteristics which can enhance thermogenesis, the body's burning of fat for energy.

It also increases the basal metabolic rate, which allows your body to burn calories faster and more efficiently. By mobilizing stored fat and carbohydrate reserves, Ma Huang works to reduce your appetite and aids in helping you lose excess weight.

Try combining with White willow bark and Guarana as the fat burning and muscle sparring effects of this stack are fantastic.

Zhi Shi

Citrus aurantium is commonly referred to as bitter orange. Zhi shi is the immature dried fruit of citrus aurantium. Zhi Shi may be more thermogenic than ephedrine and has fewer side effects.

It can also be very effective stimulating the metabolism (this stimulation causes an increase in the metabolic rate - thermogenesis

- which burns calories) without any undesirable effects on the nervous system. Citrus aurantium may also act as an appetite suppressant.

Try combining with caffeine, white willow bark, cayenne and green tea for greater thermogenic action.

Dosage 300mg three times a day.


Pyruvate is naturally occurring substance found in weight loss and herbal 'fat-burners'.
Studies have show that using diet pills containing pyruvate while restricting caloric intake slightly and participating in strength training will boost your metabolism resulting in weight loss.

Pyruvate produces ATP, which makes it a great supplement to take with creatine and ALC (Alpha Lipioc Acid) comes in Sodium and Calcium, try Calcium.

Dosage 1gram to 5grams per day.

Energy and Recovery


Branched Chain Amino Acids, are essential amino acids, which means that the body by itself cannot produce them so sufficient quantities must be obtained from supplementation.

The three Bcaas (Valine, Leucine, and Isoleucine) make up approximately 70 percent of the amino acids in the body. Bcaas are unique in that they are utilized directly by muscle tissue during long workouts.

Since your body only has a limited number of these amino acids, it can be forced to break down lean muscle tissue when dietary sources aren't meeting your needs.

Try taking these 45 mins before training and 45 minutes after so you can push yourself harder, faster, and longer through the most intense training bouts and competitive events.

Ribose is a simple sugar that occurs naturally in all living cells and in one of the simplest molecule used by the body to build and restore energy.

Ribose is very important for the production of ATP. ATP is the major source of energy used by cells including muscle tissue for normal function. Ribose has been shown to increase muscular levels, boost endurance, and promote recovery! It is also an important way to increase your energy levels and aid in the recovery of muscle tissue after intense workouts.

There's an old Chinese saying, "Good things come in pairs," and in the case of strength training, that maxim is 100% true. Pairing two exercises is an easy and effective way to build more muscle in less time... and MUSCLE is your most powerful weapon against aging!

The bottom line is; you don't have all day long to stay in the gym. However, you also realize that staying healthy and keeping that body of yours in the type of prime condition that defies age and looks great in a swimsuit is also a very high priority.

So how do you balance the need to maintain your health and a great looking body with a busy schedule? Simple: What you need is time efficient training!

One of the easiest, fastest and most effective ways to achieve time efficiency in your workouts is to use pairs of exercises called "antagonistic supersets."

An antagonistic superset is where you perform two exercises in a row for opposite (antagonistic) muscle groups with virtually no rest in between. Example: alternate chest exercises like bench presses with upper back exercises like rows. Take no rest between exercises, and rest 60 seconds after the second exercise before repeating the pair 1-2 more times.

Each repetition should be performed at the usual slow, controlled speed of 2-3 seconds during the lifting phase and 3-4 seconds during the lowering phase; it's the rest between each exercise that gets eliminated and that's what gives you an effective workout faster.

Shin Splints

Shin splints are one of the most commoninjuries known to athletes.

Shin splints are a term commonly used to describe most lower leg pain. However, shin splints are only one of several conditions that affect the lower leg. The most common causes of lower leg pain are: general shin soreness; shin splints; and stress fractures. For the purpose of this article, I'll only be addressing the first two. I'll save the topic of stress fractures for another issue.

Before I move on to shin splints, I want to quickly cover the topic of general shin soreness. Shin soreness is simply a muscular overuse problem. By using the R.I.C.E.R. regime you'll be able to overcome 95 percent of all general shin soreness within about 72 hours.

For lower leg pain that goes beyond general shin soreness, a more aggressive approach must be taken. Lets now have a look at shin splints in a little more detail.

What are Shin Splints?

Although the term shin splints is often used to describe a variety of lower leg problems, it actually refers specifically to a condition called Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS). To better understand shin splints, or MTSS, lets have a look at the muscles, tendons and bones involved.

So, what is overtraining? Overtraining is the result of giving your body more work or stress than it can handle. Overtraining occurs when a person experiences stress and physical trauma from exercise faster than their body can repair the damage.

At this point in time there are no tests which can be performed to determine whether you are over trained or not. You can’t go to your local doctor or even a sports medicine laboratory and ask for a test for overtraining. However, while there are no tests for overtraining, there are a number of signs and symptoms that you should be on the lookout for. These signs and symptoms should act as a warning bell, which will give you advanced notice of possible dangers to come.

There are quite a number of signs and symptoms to be on the lookout for. To make it easier for you to recognize them I’ve grouped them into either physical or psychological signs and symptoms.

Now, suffering from any one or two of the following signs or symptoms doesn’t automatically mean you are suffering from overtraining. However, if you recognize a number, say 5 or 6 of the following signs and symptoms, then it may be time to take a close look at the volume and intensity of your work load.

Warm Up Activities & Stretching Exercises

The warm up activities are a crucial part of any exercise regime or sports training. The importance of a structured warm up routine should not be under estimated when it comes to the prevention of sports injury.

The Warm Up

An effective warm up has a number of very important key elements. These elements, or parts, should all be working together to minimize the likelihood of sports injury from physical activity.

Warming up prior to any physical activity does a number of beneficial things, but primarily its main purpose is to prepare the body and mind for more strenuous activity. One of the ways it achieves this is by helping to increase the body’s core temperature, while also increasing the body’s muscle temperature. By increasing muscle temperature you're helping to make the muscles loose, supple and pliable.

An effective warm up also has the effect of increasing both your heart rate and your respiratory rate. This increases blood flow, which in turn increases the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the working muscles. All this helps to prepare the muscles, tendons and joints for more strenuous activity.

Keeping in mind the aims or goals of an effective warm up, we can then go on to look at how the warm up should be structured.

Obviously, it's important to start with the easiest and most gentle activity first, building upon each part with more energetic activities, until the body is at a physical and mental peak. This is the state in which the body is most prepared for the physical activity to come, and where the likelihood of sports injury has been minimized as much as possible. So, how should you structure your warm up to achieve these goals?

I get a lot of questions from people asking about specific treatments for sports injuries, like running injuries and other common pulled muscle complaints. The unfortunate thing about most of these requests is that the injury occurred some time ago. This time lapse between the injury occurring, and treatment sort, is the biggest stumbling block to a full and complete recovery.

When I tell people what I do for a living, many will tell me they wish they had the time to exercise, but just can’t seem to fit it in. This is one of the biggest excuses people give for not making exercise a part of their life. However, we all have time for the things we feel are important enough. Many people actually have more time than they think. Research now supports breaking increased activity into 10-minute blocks, which anyone can do without even thinking about it.

Do any of these scenarios sound like you?

• I am too tired to do anything after work so I drop down in front of the TV

• With the kids and husband, there is just no time for me

• I work too many hours and have too many responsibilities to get away from the office

• First thing in the morning I always spend an hour drinking my coffee and reading the paper

• I really need to relax in the middle of the day, so I read fiction books at lunchtime

• I’d love to exercise but there’s no place for me to do it

• I’m too tired at night and I hate to get up early in the morning

Although exercise is a normal part of my own life, I also try to include a 90-120 minute walk into town several times a week. As I was taking that walk the other day, I realized that there are things in my own life that I perceive I have no time for. This thought gave me a laugh, because here I was, spending 2 hours doing something that other people perceive they have no time for!

In this article, I will give you five helpful tips on how to fit regular fitness into your hectic lifestyle. Then, if you are able to find the time, lack of time will no longer be a valid excuse.
